life doesn't hand you good cards;
not ever, not at all.
its always just wishing thinking.
we all get dealt bad cards.
 

it's a cruel consequence
for merely being alive;
breathing the shared air
with everyone panting
and gasping to breathe —
as though the world was going to end
if they stopped breathing for a couple of seconds.
"life sucks," they say.
everyone is hurting,
everyone is struggling,
everyone just wants to be someone else,
trying to pretend to be someone else.
self-loathing for the sake of it,
finding ways to improve themselves.

back to the hand,
it's about how you play those cards,
with a genuine, kind heart,
a positive mindset to accept defeat;
or a well-planned sleight of hand
while wearing apathy on a poker face.
the guilt is short-lived.

dressed in all black
it's black friday.
hey look at me!
im attending my own funeral.
wearing black everyday,
im living each day with the end in mind.
we are all going to die someday.
we are living towards the day of our death.
simply, we are living to die.


when everyday is a funeral for myself,
the new versions of me created each day become part of the past.
the past versions of me can rest in peace and remain where they are.
they too deserve some compassion.
they too didn't know better once,
and so we continue to be.
